Email thoughts

I’ve really enjoying discovering the power and features of Solve 360.  I’ve got a couple of things I’d love to see in the email handling.

One is an automatic BCC to the drop-box for any message initiated from the solve webmail client.  I sometimes forget to bcc the drop-box to keep a record of the communication in Solve.

Even more that that, I’d love a way to manually link emails to project blogs from the webmail. As I understand it, the messages aren’t really “linked” in data to the blog, but rather a filtered display of the drop box based on the criteria in the “linked view” added to the blog.

The criteria is very powerful, but there have been messages that have fallen outside the logic and I’d so much rather make the connection manually than navigate to the project, open the blog and add a word or two to the criteria that links the message.

An idea would be to have an option in the “new mail” window for “project link” that would
1. allow you to select a project blog
2. Insert the project blog identifier or URL at the end of the message.

Of course when adding a “linked view” to a project blog, the URL would automatically be added to the linking criteria.  Then people could add more criteria for automated linking, or have the option for manual linking.

Thanks and keep up the great work!

GREAT THOUGHTS. I HOPE THEY IMPLEMENT THESE IDEAS!

+1 - I like the filter views in the blogs but more control is sorely needed.  I also find myself wanting more options for getting emails into S360 (as I find it hard to not use gmail as my primary email client).

Actually if you are using our webmail client Bcc is not necessary.  When composing the email just choose the dropbox folder from the “Save in” dropdown.

The long term plan for linking emails was to implement it in three stages: 1) auto-sorting / linking, 2) custom filtering by item, and 3) tagging.  Guess what’s next wink

I too am glad to hear this.  I get faxes and voicemail by email, often without any way to identify the sender without manually tagging the message (after reading the attachment or listening to the message). I just hope it is as easy to use and streamlined as possible!
