Sending an email to any selected list of contacts

Hi folks,

We need a way to select a group of contacts and then email that group.

Currently, I believe the only way to select a group of contacts to email is by using the webmail “group recipients” function which pulls contacts from category tags, and that is very restrictive. We would need to have a huge list of micro-category tags to pull this off.  Instead, how about using the existing contact screens and filters which are powerful and work well, and just give us a way to email the selected people we have filtered down to?

Ideally, we would use the contact filters to select a list of contacts and then select all or a few of the listed contacts to be emailed.  Currently, once you select a contact, the contact filter bar is replaced with a new filter that allows you to “Delete, change Permissions, or add the selected contacts to a Category Tag”  We would like to see an option in this filter bar to “Email” the selected contacts.

The email functionality would need to be identical to existing Webmail “group recipients” functionality, where we can either create a free form email or select a template to insert.  (Utilizing the substitution tags for name, etc.)

If there is a way to do this today, please let me know.  Otherwise, I hope that this can be added to Solve without too much effort.

Thanks for the time,

Kevin

Hey Kevin,

Thanks for the feedback.

The Constant Contact feature is based on the general filter criteria as you’re asking for, but currently the “Group Recipients” feature is driven by a tag.

Perhaps a “workaround” for the “Group Recipients” option is to designate a single “scratch” tag for this purpose i.e. a tag that gets reused whenever a specific message is sent.  The key to making simple is the ability to remove and add tags en-mass by clicking on the field header and choosing add/remove category tag.

That appears to be a pretty good workaround and we will definitely give it a try.

Please add my suggestion to the list of future enhancements.  I would like to make this more intuitive to our users.  The workaround requires diligence on the users part to remove the tag once the email is sent.  I am worried about multiple people using the same “Email Group” tag, and sending emails to folks they never intended.

Thanks,

Kevin
