Inserting Documents Into Tasks

I see that it is possible to enter a document within a task list - this is really useful for the work we do where repetitive tasks often have specific documents associated with them (on-site check lists, sign off sheets etc).

We are being driven towards a greater use of Google Docs, partly because of the wider functionality of Solve, and partly because we can ensure that the latest version of the document template is always used.

Is it therefore an anomaly that one can insert a regular document into a task list, but not a link to a Google Doc?  Can this be fixed soon?

Further to my last - I also note that having inserted a document into a task list, it is not possible to remove it without deleting the task as well (although thankfully not the entire task list).  Can you fix this too?

I don’t see how you are inserting a doc into a task list. Are you just pasting the link into the description?

By right-clicking in the task list and inserting the document - see attached file
It gives two options - insert file or insert task.
However, I have now discovered that I can delete the task individually without damaging the rest of the task list

I see that now. And I can just delete the file from the task it attached to.

Hi Carl, thank you very much for posting that screenshot for bdesilva. Thats what I call community. Inserting objects (docs in particular) into Tasklists is a relatively new area for us. We thought it could add some value to our users and we have been getting some positive feedback. We are also integrating more and more with Google. In both respects, your point makes sense. You can probably expect it in an upcoming release.

It would be nice if we could insert a link, such as to a particular google doc there, instead of a physical doc too!

Yes, inserting URLs are essentially what we would be doing. It would make sense.

Hey Carl, no progress on this yet. Many large piece have come into play since then.  We do intend on being able to attach other things to tasks including URLs.
