It would be nice to have OK and Cancel buttons in the activity dialogue boxes. If I accidentally click “create a new contact”, the dialogue box opens and I have to create an empty record. For the notes activity I actually get a “do you really want to create a note with no information Yes or No” warning. If I choose Yes, I get an empty note, if I say NO, it takes me back to the dialogue box. I then have to find and then open and then delete the empty contact/ task / phone log that I didn’t want to create in the first place. Ideally I would like to have a cancel key that would allow me to exit the dialogue box without creating the new, empty activity.

Yes, +1. This is a great suggestion. Best, Ronald Lee |

I don’t know that an “OK” button is necessary (though it is a bit confusing at first for new users to not have one). A “Cancel” button would definitely be nice. Alternatively, a universal hot key (like “Esc”) to cancel the current record would work too. |

yes, what sloughwi said. :-) |

Good point guys and you are absolutely right. This was a bug. The original purpose of this pop up “Are you sure you want to save an empty note?“ has been to help users who may have mistakenly erased the contents from an existing note. This gives them a change to undo their mistake before it gets saved and they lose potentially critical information. The message was not meant to pop up for brand notes that never contained info in the first place. That is why the message seemed so out of place. This seems to have been addressed in the latest release. If you click away from you unwanted note you can just hit the delete button. No more pop ups. |

This only answers one portion of my topic, and either I am missing something or this actually has not been addresses in the latest released as noted above. I tested “notes” and I still get the same response. The point of the topic is that there is no way to escape creating the activity. I don’t want to hit the delete button after I have created it…I want to have the option to cancel the process in mid flow. Pretty standard. With respect to Sloughwi’s suggestion, I would still prefer to have an OK key. Its not a big deal but it just feels a little uncomfortable clicking outside of the box to complete the process. Certainly not a deal breaker but I like the OK and cancel buttons. |

The pattern we strive for is not to use nag steps like OK or Cancel unless it’s an important, irreversible change (like erasing content from a huge note)—paper doesn’t have them either The rational is that it is better to not to interrupt you in your flow by clicking OK/Save 20+ times than having you circle back to delete an activity that you created unintentionally. Using <esc> as an “escape” is a great tip BTW. |

However, when you create empty records let’s say as a result of not having OK/Cancel the workflow is messed up anyway.. http://norada.com/forums/viewthread/1251/ |

It appears that you might be double-clicking the menu option, true? |
|
|
no double clicking.. sometimes when clicking on date field I get an empty event, sometimes clicking in the empty body of the event(not in the field area) I get an empty follow up event.. |
|
Gotta think that installing at least a cancel button wouldn’t be too tough. The activity commands are pretty close together and it is relatively easy to accidentally click on “schedule a follow-up” when scrolling to “add a formatted note”. It would be nice to be able to quickly get out of the unwanted activity. Sounds like there is a bit of a demand for the option. We’ll leave it with you. |

or some form of warning that you are creating empty records so you cancel it.. |
