Search contacts on Background

Am I being stupid, or is there no ability to search contacts on background information?  Every other standard field seems to be there.

Yes, it does search the text box for background.

I’ve done it using a specific text string that was only in there and it was able to pull up all the contacts with the text string. I just left the search bar as it was to do so.

The challenge is if you don’t have something specific to search for, perhaps it may be hard to pull up the contact(s) you are looking for via the background box.

Thanks Ronald - your last point is my problem.  I might have lots of contacts in Bristol, but I want to search for the contacts I met at the Bristol Convention.  The search as you suggest will bring up both.  I would have thought adding the text box option within search criteria is within the art of the possible

This is where tags do come in handy.

If you know you might do something with a contact you met at a certain event, create a tag and notate on the contact.

If you think you’ll need to always know that contact was at the event, then either create some form of custom form, or have a standardized way of notating it.

In your case now, if you really need to know who came to Brisbane, you’ll probably have to look through each contact…. I don’t think Solve does broad match keyword search (or does it?) only phrase match.

@Ronald A good case for tags.

I might have lots of contacts in Bristol, but I want to search for the contacts I met at the Bristol Convention.

Background is included in the search scope for “All fields” but it is not listed as a specific standard or custom field to narrow a search on.  I suppose we could add this wink

Thanks for the tips.
