Hi Shana, thank you for the suggestion. You are right, if the contact is not in the directory already then typing it into the “related to” field will not accomplish anything. This is because it is purely a search field. The expectations may be a bit off because the “company” field allows you to create a company on the fly. The reason we are able to do this is because we know that you are looking to create a company, whereas when you type into the “related to” field, you can be searching for or (hypothetically) creating either a Contact, a Company or a Project. In the latter case this would cause ambiguity because the system would not know where to save the new “related to” record. Would it be a Contact, a Company or a Project? The user would have so specify this adding an extra step to the process, which is what we are trying to avoid. Also the system would not be able to save that data until the user specifies this. Solve360 saves all data into its final destination as a rule. So this would be an exception.
That said, this is an interesting case you bring up because keeping a smooth workflow is valuable to our customers. Thank you for sharing your idea.
