Dropbox recently released their new API (https://www.dropbox.com/). For those unfamiliar with Dropbox, it’s a syncing service which keeps your local files/folders in sync with a cloud-based backup, and with any other machine linked to your account. It changed the way my law office runs. I currently do not use S360 for sharing files because it’s too slow compared to how efficient sync services like Dropbox are.
Dropbox integration with S360, however, would be _awesome_. That is, the ability to link a project or contact to a Dropbox file system folder, drop files into it locally, and have it immediately appear in S360. Likewise, client uploaded files would auto-sync to your local folders in the background.
You could possibly accomplish this with nothing more than a widget viewing Dropbox files from a particular linked Dropbox folder.

This would be amazing. I too am a big dropbox fan. I’d like to see a better way of doing revision history but I agree that there could be something here.
A few caveats:
for teams - this would need to work well with the “share folder” options and as such might be difficult to code as it would require a lot from S360’s api (multiple tokens to say the least!)
the sync use-case would need to be carefully thought out as there is a lot of room for error here.
lastly - the beta version of dropbox .8 actually lets you create a shared link to any file on your dropbox, so this might be a perfectly fine workaround that actually works better.
Now instead of uploading a file, you can just put the link in S360.

Yes, I’m familiar with Dropbox as well and find it certainly is handy. I like that it cuts down on bandwidth usage too. Does anybody know how well (if at all) it integrates with Google Apps? Thanks for the idea and insight guys.

We use Syncplicity (http://www.syncplicity.com ) as an alternative to Dropbox because it integrates with Google Apps.

I actually considered switching when they released Apps syncing, but I haven’t done so yet. Honestly, if S360 implemented an integration with a sync service, I’d switch to that service.

I use Dropbox, and yes, better integration would be useful.
The Syncplicity seems a good service, but being Windows only it’s a no go for a mixed Windows Mac Linux enviroment that we use (not mention iPhones and Androids).

Lock-in is so 2002 :)

I suppose I wouldn’t call it lock-in as in a deliberate attempt. More like “we’re focused on one platform for now…“

Agreed. Dropbox integration into S360 would be a great feature! We’d love it see it happen!

I may as well throw my vote in as well. Dropbox + Solve gets a big +1 from me.

There are 13 of us using Dropbox.com almost like a virtual document server. We watch our content so as not to exceed our free limit.
It is intuitive and simple - even salespeople won’t complain about its taking too much effort/time to use.
We give it and Solve 360 a big “thumbs-up”!

Syncplicity integration would be awesome, their Google Apps integration is a huge plus for us, tying it in with 360 would be icing on the cake.
