New feature: Display “Created” field and custom field selections

Two minor enhancements today

1. The default date shown in the search results list is “Last updated”.  Hovering your mouse over a field header will now reveal a dropdown option which lets you display and sort by the “Created” field.  This option also allows each user to customize their field views in both the vertical and horizontal layouts (settings are saved).  Someone was overheard describing it as “luxurious” :)

2. When searching Solve automatically narrows the results list as you enter each character.  This makes it simple to find the record(s) you need by entering only a few characters.

However, depending on the criteria the earlier search requests might take a bit longer to process than subsequent ones i.e. the results may not be received in the order you make them.  The system would naturally display the results in the order they were completed e.g. displaying the last search result, then potentially replacing that with an earlier search result.  Now Solve will only display the most recent search result, ignoring any previous requests.

I had a little laugh when I read this. The Last Update field (and the Star field for that matter) have been of no real use to us. On Friday last week, I was looking at these two columns as wasted space and then noticed the Created field. I clicked the drop down and saw that I could choose to only show the “Created” field (removed check marks from Last Updated and the Star) , which is ideal for sorting current projects by date. I gave my forhead a little “I could have had a V-8” smack and chastised myself for not noticing that option earlier. Now I owe my forhead an apology as I see that this nice little option didn’t exist before Friday. Thanks guys, it helped us clean up some poorly utilized space and allows us now to very quickly sort by Projects by date.
I havent tested out the search function but I’m sure it works great.
