Organise “Related To”?

Is there a way to rearrange the “Related To” area so that there is some separation of people & projects that are related? Once there are a number of relationships it can get pretty messy.

I would like to be able to duplicate the “Related To” field and rename so I could have, for example, “Related Projects”, “Related Employees”, “Related Other” but have not been able to do that. Am I missing something, or is it not possible?

Hi SusanM. Unfortunately this is not a feature. “Related To” is a special field and can’t be duplicated. What you can do is keep all Contact-Company relationships recorded in the Company field in Contact records to divide things a bit.

+1 vote for this feature to see related to Contacts, Projects, Companies separately

I do record the company a contact works for in the “Company” field in the Contact record but the contact then shows up in the “Related to” field in the Company record, which is my problem.

When I look at a company I need to be able to distinguish easily which projects relate to them (and there can be a lot - product development, marketing, sales etc), who works for them, and any other relationships that are relevant (their main competitors for example, or who referred them to us) and I would really like to see that separated out because it is too jumbled and confusing as it is.

p.s. thanks for the vote, Dave!

Susan, you have my vote on this as well. I was running some training for one of our staff and (when veiwing a comapny) having a list of 30 employees jumbled in with 15 projects and calling them all “related to’s” just doesnt work. If I could open up a company and see all of the contacts in one list and all of the “related” projects in the other, I would be happy.

On a related note though…..SOLVE OPS GUYS….is there any way that you would be able to remove ARCHIVED projects from these related to lists? Once we close, lose or backburner a project, we archive it to keep the clutter down. Its great because the project is removed from the Project list so the visable projects are the current projects. Nice feature. However, they continue to show up as related projects in the company related to’s which will continue to get more and more unweildy and muddled….even more so if Susan’s issue is not resoloved somehow.

+1 vote here for this as well. However I think the challenge is, that if you remove it here, but then go to the actual archived project blog, it will also disappear from there, since it’s one connection to link a Project and a Contact, not two connections. Maybe there is a way around that that Solve can work on to specifically address this issue with archived contacts, and projects

This is certainly not an end of the world thing for us but it would certainly be a LOT cleaner looking. With our previous CRM, we would call up the company and a complete list of Projects would be available as well as a complete list of contacts within the company. Because Solve currently jumbles all of these together we just do not go to the company screen very often to look for this info. We have worked around this by using the company name as the first word of every project so, if we are looking for all projects being worked on for ABC CO, we go to the Projects window and call up all projects beginning with ABC and the 1, 5 or 20 current projects we are working on for that company come up. Again, with archiving, it is nice because it is ONLY the CURRENT projects that are visible.
Basically, for us, the company window has become irrelevant except as a repository of address info. Its too disorganized to be used practically. Because we have a very viable workaround, having Solve make the change would be a Nice to Have as opposed to a Need to Have.
