Multiple Project Types

Is there a way to create context sensitive projects, based on a Tag or code selection?  As far as I can tell, when you set up the data entry fields for a Project, you select the fields, which then apply to all Project Blogs.  In reality, the data captured varies with different types of Projects; eg:
- A Project to recruit a new Staff Member
- A Project to implement new software
- A project to fix an issue etc

I’d like to be able to define different types of Projects, which are then available in a list.  The data entry and custom field mapping can be configured to suit each Project type as selected.

Love this concept. Would be interested in knowing too.

The fields are the “universal” part of the project. Typically the activities are is where you have sub categories of projects which you can define in Project Activity Templates. This is an interesting concept though. Thanks for sharing Toe Knee.

I looked at several CRM/Project Management solutions before decide on Solve360.  I think it was Batchbook that touted the strength of their “SuperTag” feature.  My impression is that SuperTags sort of did what Toe Knee is looking for.  Each SuperTag could have a sub-set of Tags available.  Not fields, but similar concept.

I am migrating away from a SQL-server based product called TimeMatters by LexisNexis.  That product does have this functionality.  Once I designated a Category Code (e.g., Contact Code or Contact Tag here at S360), I could then specify/customize fields or field choices unique to that code.  TM also had workflow management with triggers and such built in.  I miss those features, but S360 is so much easier to work with, sync/integrate with GoogleApps, access anywhere, etc. that leaving TM was a no-brainer.

HoudiniESQ is a web-based product that is the nearest alternative to TM.  That might give Norada some ideas about how to do these things.  I considered them, but liked your UI, cost, user-support and more better.

I’m moving across from Time Matters, which is a great system for centralised users.  A pain to manage for remote users though, which is where Solve360’s solution is easy…

Exactly - even though I’m only a 3-person business (consultant, not lawyer), it was too hard to keep TM updated between host and remote.  Plus, my one employee is virtual so was hassle for her to use LogMeIn to update TM.
Keep in touch re: how the transition goes.  I’m figuring things out, but do miss certain TM features.  Would love to hear your tips and what is working for you in S360.

We are now testing a new feature lets you to relate fields to category tags i.e. when you add a tag it will dynamically extend the set of fields for the contact, company, project blog.  If you’d like to help us test this new feature just reach out to our support team and they’ll hook you up.
