Program update August 18

We’ve got a few updates lined up for release.  Today we’ve delivered the following changes…

New feature

This one could be interesting.  Instead of knocking off a couple of birds with one stone, we might have caught a small flock with this one (not that there’s anything wrong with birds mind you, I hear some are gourmet).

Notice a single checkbox in the activities menu labeled “Show related activities”.  When selected the system will refer to the contacts, companies, or project blogs that are “related-to/linked-to” that page and display their activities on the same page temporarily.  Consider these simple cases:

- While reviewing a company page “roll-up” all known information from the related contacts (or visa versa).

- While managing a project blog expand your view to include background or periphery calls, events, notes and emails

When the option is selected the activities will be sorted by date (placed order is not logical in this view).  So that it’s easy to follow the story “related activities” will have a different color background and show the name of the linked item

Improvements

We’ve added a date picker along with the number of days in the Scheduled email activity so you can have it both ways e.g. 2 weeks from now, or on that special date.

We think we’ve resolved or worked-around the last few Chrome issues (including the nagging “scroll to the top of the page”).

Extended support for listing scheduled emails, files, and photos to the Workspace > Activity Dashboard > Show recent changes for… report

And a dozen or so other minor refinements that have been suggested recently.

Stay tuned…

We think the next “New feature” will start a bit of a revolution ;)

Found a small issue with this feature (but otherwise it’s awesome): When it pulls the info it does it by date as you mentioned, which should be fine for all the activities except for Schedule a Follow Up: it should sort this particular activity by the date the activity is actually taking place, as meetings are not always booked in chronological order, but do occur in chronological order. If you have lots of info you are pulling, meetings may get ‘lost’ and you’ll be hunting around for them. Thoughts?

One might also argue for call log and scheduled email too. I think there was a really good reason for consistently using date created, but I can’t remember exactly what that was at the moment; I’ll need to compare notes with others here.
