Google Apps Gadget

You all have mentioned a contextual gadget for Google Apps in the pipeline and I just noticed the following at the bottom of my emails: “Solve360 - Direct access to your contacts” including a “Add this contact” button.

The button doesn’t do anything (at least that I can tell) at this point but is this a new feature that is being rolled out soon?

Just noticed it as well this morning.

it’s pretty awesome!

If you google apps user, you need to update your services to grant additional permissions before the link becomes available.

This log out of gmail and log back in, and you should get a “Click here to approve access” dialog, then you should be cooking with gas.

Well done solve360 team.

For me is not using First and Last name just email so the data still has to be filled in

The Google API does not allow access to the sender’s proper name.  When adding a contact all Solve is currently provided with is email address.

Very cool!!  I’ll be interested to see if I can use this to update contact info as well as add new contact info.  Also, hope it makes it more seamless for relating to projects, as I am still stumbling some with remembering to put the project name or such in before forwarding to the drop box to ensure the email gets associated to the project.  This is excellent step though.  Yeah Norada!  I’ve been singing your praises to many recently!!

I log everything under a Company, not a Contact. Will this still work, by showing the info using the web domain? Or if we have nothing in the person Contact record then nothing will show up using this feature?

Or can we still click the new ‘Show related activities’ feature? Only reason I ask is that in the demo video it doesn’t show this new feature, so it seems to be made before hand

Did you catch Google’s Go-go (Gmail Contextual) Gadgets post?

And our own…

If you notice the design of the Gadget we’ve purposely left space for other options e.g. companies.  Stay tuned for the tweaking phase…

Yeah saw the posts. Glad to hear more is coming. I can somewhat understand why some people log a lot of activity under contacts but I’ve always done Companies. Although the new ‘Show related activities’ allows for more flexibility, as I never wanted to have to go through multiple contacts to try and get the picture of what was going on.

In any case, very very cool feature: well done! Can’t wait to see the rest!

This was the theory behind why we are going with Solve360 (while also migrating to Google Apps).  I am just excited to see the changes being rolled out so quickly, great job!

This actually works as is, since I can just open the contact record, it’s blank as expected, then just click the company name of the contact records and I get all the company info as I would in Solve

Excellent work Team S360

I’m liking the gadget.  I’m still wondering though, does this somehow connect the email to that contact or do we still need to forward to the drop box or move from within S360 webmail?  Thanks!

The gadget interfaces with the client record but does not change current functionality e.g. you do need to forward messages to the dropbox.  That space to the right of the button is intended to be used by such new features as they are possible.

This is really very nice indeed - well done Solve (again).
My one negative comment is that there is a noticeable delay for the contact information to come up in the email.  It doesn’t stop me from being seriously impressed.

We added a small enhancement today: now also showing the company and project blogs the contact(s) are related to.  With this you can jump directly to a company or project page directly from the message.

We were actually really happy with the performance, normally you should see a < 1s response time.  The request goes Browser -> Google -> Solve.  We noticed that Google is taking more time than is normal today, probably a “Sunday” thing.  I expect that it’s temporary but if it persists we’ll follow-up with them.

Looks like a timeout related to above.

Do you need to be a Google Apps user to get this functionality?

Yes, but it’s free for Google Apps standard

I am seeing the same issue today.  Does anyone know what changed?  My guess is Google changed something but that is just a guess…
