Tasks without Task Lists?

Just a day into testing out Solve360 and so far quite impressed.

One thing that seems a little illogical to me is the fact that you cannot add a task without adding a task list. I understand the value of having a task list when there are many tasks relating to a contact, company or project, but from my use today it seems there are times when you just one to add a single task when responding to an email and it seems odd adding a task list containing one task. You end up repeating the same sentance virtually in noth the task list and the single task.

It could be that I am missing the point of how this feature should be used so please correct and redirect me if I have misunderstood. If though others share my thinking on this then I wonder if it would be possible to have an add a single task option.

Thanks in advance,
Peter

Welcome Peter. The single task list is often requested, but there are a few simple work arounds, that work out quite well.

See my Aug 19 reply on this post: http://norada.com/forums/viewthread/1486/

Hope that helps

The single task list is often requested,

Hate to beat a dead horse but the comment above , I think, points out a need.

Is there any practical reason why there isn’t an option for “add a (single) task”? Many of our projects are repetitive and have, quite often, one task (i.e. send quote to Mary Jones). We have others that have a series of milestones but these are in the very small minority. A task list works fine in these very infrequent instances.

The ability to quickly add a single task would be a great added feature. It seems that every week a new user (and some of us veterans) make this request. Is it just not do-able? If that is the case then fine, I’ll continue with the workaround. If it is do-able though, please offer it as an option.

Many of our projects are repetitive and have, quite often, one task (i.e. send quote to Mary Jones).

This is exactly why I use templates: for repetitive items, and I just incorporated a task list with no tasks so that as I need to add on, I can do it in one click.

That said, I ‘think’ I read somewhere on a reply that Solve is looking at the single task item, but I may be wrong. Feel free to correct me Steve and Co.

Thanks all.

I agree it would still be good to be able to have a single task without the need for a task list. But that said, Dave’s template workaround is a neat one and does have the benefit of keeping the non-specific To-Do List for a contact or company organised in one place. Thanks for a great forum! smile
