New Project notification

One feature that we would love to see added is a notification to other users that a new Project has been created. We have leads that come through our general mailbox and the question inevitably comes up “did you create a blog for that new lead/project?“. We have taken to sending a new email to send to other users saying, “just created new blog for Project XXX” but it would be helpful if there was an option that allowed for this notification to be automated.

can’t you use the notifications feature of the project blog? Input your employees email addresses, and select the type of notification, then send it directly from the blog when you first create it. This way their emails are related to the blog and will get the other updates as the project evolves

We use notifications for activities once the project is created. I’m not certain if it works as a notification tool to announce the creation of a new blog. I will try it out and get back to you.

it should work and in the text area you can simply write: New Project X has been created. This is what I do to notify my team

You know how you get into a routine…? I have always just used the first two options on the notifications and never the “when I create one” option. Wasn’t sure what you meant by “text area” so I created a text project, chose the “when I create one” option in notifications, typed my msg into the text box and I had just notified myself.
Appreciate the feedback. I can see this being a bit of a pain if you had a lot of users that needed to be notified but its not a huge issue for us as we don’t have a lot of users.
Cheers,

Yes, could be a pain for a lot of users, but I think for most people it works just fine. Maybe being able to do it by selecting a Workgroup would alleviate that.

Another way (especially if there are lots of users) is to create an email address : , insert it as normal, and Auto-forward any emails to that address to your whole team/company.

Or have a Scheduled email in a template and just insert it. Haven’t tried it, but might be worth looking at.

Just created a couple of new Project blogs and, after going thru the notification process, I would still like to see an automated process…i.e create a blog and a predetermined user or user group is automatically notified.
Possible? Over to you Ops.

Hey guys, the notifications basically do this already. There are many things that Solve360 can’t do yet, why not focus on them?

The longer one uses a product, the more one recognizes what it does well. One also recognizes features that, with a little refinement, could make the product better. Sharing on the forum has provided me with all sorts of workarounds that I have incorporated into how we work with Solve. Some of the workarounds work so well that there is not need to refine those features any further. 90% of the time that has been the case.

In this case, for my requirements, it would be better to have an option for automated notifications. I am in no way saying that the notification option sucks. I am making as suggestion that it could possibly be improved. Creating a template for this process may be the answer (as has been the case in numerous other processes) and it was not an option that I had thought of until Dave mentioned it.

I believe that is what the forum is for. I have received (and provided) great advice and ideas from Dave and others on the forum. Most of these exchanges have had to do with existing features, things that Solve360 already does and because of these exchanges our company has 1. learned to use Sove360 much more efficiently and 2. we have become champions of the product.

If the only reason to log onto to forum was to focus on the “many things that Solve360 can’t do yet”, then not too many users would be logging on. Solve360 does most of what our company needs and it is the tweaking of the existing features that will make the product even better for us.

Thanks for the thoughtful and honest response Stormer. Many great innovations/improvement come out of the forums. I think we are in agreement. We do our best to keep the conversation going, but at the same time try to keep people thinking about the big picture, while others like to refine and finesse. Both are required.

I only have time for the big picture for my own company. Solve360 has helped a lot in solving (no pun intended) some of our big (and small) picture issues with CRM and project management. You will continue to hear from us when we are looking for small changes that will help us in our day to day.
Cheers,
Have a great Labour Day weekend
