Handling of Duplicates on Import

If we start overwriting each others’ Background field upon Import of duplicate Outlook records with different values under Notes, it’s less than optimal.

Tons of useful information often gets stored in Outlook Notes, including CRM-like records of conversations we’ve had, pasted emails, account numbers, customer service advice, etc. I know, I know, “You guys really need a CRM!“ Anyway…the result is that some of our users are in love with their Outlook Notes field’s contents. OK, I am anyway.

We wonder if you could concatenate the contents of the two Outlook Notes fields together, rather than having the more recent Notes simply replace the contents of the older Notes?

Or possibly put each of the Outlook Notes, or the additional Notes, down below as Solve360 “Activity” Notes, instead of under Background? Now that would be slick.

Or else just allow the duplicate, and we can sort it out manually.

Solve360 make it relatively easy to load / reload data from Outlook without creating a mess (e.g. duplicates).  The idea is this is a one way, one time event to lock people up with the team.  The example you as you describe is more in the realm of syncing and that’s a world of hurt.

According to SAP, integration is the number one IT pain point / cost for small business.  One solution?  Reduce the number of systems that need to be integrated (deleting them from the computers can help speed things up).  Continuing to store new contact data in Outlook then merging it later with the team is not conducive to communicating or co-working.  I have lots of kool-aid to share if you’re running low ;)
