Improvements to Google Contact Sync

We’ve made so many improvements to our Google Contact Sync you could consider it a “2.0”.  On the feature side of things we’ve added support so you can now sync these additional Google fields:

- Main (phone) to Business main
- Work Fax to Business fax
- Other email to Other email

We never liked the “other email” field but caved when we discovered that some systems like Blackberry sync contacts into Google using this field.  Now these contacts will flow through with no special handling.  A couple of other Google Sync feature changes include:

- The sync will never replace any value with a blank value.  If you want to empty a field, enter a space.
- A new URL address is added to synced contacts in Google called “Solve360”.  If you click on this address from within Google you will be taken directly to the contact’s page in Solve360.
- Significant improvements in sync performance, reducing “lock time” (when you can’t perform a manual sync because the schedule one is running) and enhanced logging so we can continue to identify ways to improve the process.

Very soon we’ll be enabling the option to select which Google Groups you’d like to sync (currently the option is all “My Contacts” or “None”).

Some other improvements include

For our larger clients: Now users will only see users that exist within same the workgroups i.e. they won’t see all the other users registered on the system in places like the calendar, assigned-to, responsible lists etc.  They will only see a list of users who have access to the same workgroups as they do.

And for our new baby that clients are falling all over in love with, the Gmail Gadget now supports the “Show related activities” and “Activity templates” features.

Some really nice features here guys.
Could I ask that for the photo pop-up, you either delay the response slightly or go for a right-click option to enlarge.  Currently you only have to scroll the mouse in the wrong area and large photos pop-up all over the place!

Agree with the last comment.  The auto pop up is slowing things down and makes it hard to navigate.

Can we please get a right click option? (or is that too MS)

I agree, there needs to be a delay of some sort for the auto popup on the image.

Thanks,

I actually like that feature “as is” esp. when the blog is published :-)

Maybe the photo container should have some options to control behavior but delaying the pic pop-up on the published blog would be confusing to end-user imo.

or maybe when mouse moves over the thumbnail, the thumbnail should change to magnifying glass and then pop-up on mouse click?
