Import Contacts

Hello,  I just signed up for a free account and am trying to import contacts.  Nothing happens when I click the import button.  It does give me a dialog box if I choose export.  I am running XP sp3 with Firefox 3.0.4
Thanks.

Greetings, If you’d like to send us the email address you registered your account to, the name of the program you exported from and a copy of your export file we’d be happy to help you with getting it loaded.

Thanks.  I am exporting from Google contacts, but I never got to choose a file.  When I hit “import” in the “Data” drop down on the contacts page, simply nothing happens.

Hello again.  I tried the import button in IE7 and it does work.  In Firefox, I get no response on my office computer and also at home on a different computer.

Thanks for the additional info.  Could you open the following page with Firefox and let us know what the “your player version” value is: http://is.gd/1kR4 I think I know what the issue might be and this info should help confirm it.

Thats what I expected; thanks.

Adobe just release v10 which introduced a new issue we needed to work around.  We just completed the fix for files/photos and we’ll take care of this one this week.  Thanks for pointing it out.

Thank you.  I was able to import my contacts without a hitch through IE7, although a noticeable difference in speed as compared to Firefox (which is why I use it wink.  Regarding contacts, is there a way to merge duplicates or delete more than 50 at a time?  My contacts all came in as “untitled” even though the spreadsheet looked okay.  I tried to redo it and ended up with all of them being duplicated.

Actually, the reason the contacts came in as untitled was that the first and last name did not match up with what the system expected in the option you chose.

Attached is a template you can use.  It you align the field headings to this file and choose Outlook Express as the file type the names should be recorded correctly.  When the contact names are locked in Solve360 will update existing contacts instead of duplicating them if you reimport.

Would you like us to remove your existing contacts so you can try with a new file?

You can also send the file in and we’d be happy to load it up for you from here.

Got it.  I deleted the contacts so I am good there (only took a few minutes).  I will use the template and clean up my data a little and then import again.  When you say “when the contact names are locked in”, do you mean that when data exists in the First and Last name fields in the .csv file or is there a way to do that manually?  Joel

Yes just that, match the “First Name” and “Last Name” field names so the system has something to “hold on to”.

I’d try a small number of records first to ensure they get organized the way you need, then proceed with the complete file when you are satisfied with the results.

I have been doing just that.  Thank you so much!  Joel
