Google Apps integration refinements
We’re steadily reducing the steps clients take to use the integration features:
- The Webmail email identity is now created automatically for each user when their account is created through Google Apps (Workspace > Settings > Sending > Email Identity).
- IMAP and SMTP authentication to Google Apps Gmail now utilizes “oAuth” which means users no longer need to enter their own Google email address and password under Workspace > Settings > Sending & Receiving, unless they want to use a different Gmail account.
- The system will now retry a second time to send a message if on first attempt Gmail doesn’t respond as expected.
- The Webmail and Contact sync Add-ons are now enabled by default for new accounts.
Other improvements
We’ve added support for importing directly from *.xls files. This works exactly the same way as importing a *.csv file but provides the following benefits:
- Users don’t need to remember to Save-As *.CSV before importing (sometimes this is an easy step to miss).
- Clients using international versions of Excel often have issues saving properly formed CSV files e.g. fields separated by [ ; ] instead of [ , ].
- It’s a bit tricky and in some cases impossible to handle certain special characters in a CSV file.
... now it’s not necessary to reduce the data-fidelity to the lowest common denominator!
Searching names with special characters such as “Ф, Я, Б, Щ” is now supported. Say hello to KΩΣTANTINOΣ ΦΩTIOY and КОНСТАНТИН ФЕДОРОВ!
You can now drag & drop activities by clicking and dragging the activity itself instead of having to hover-click-hold-drag using the activity’s move icon. As a reminder you can also quickly edit an activity by double-clicking on it.
UPDATE: The drag & drop enhancement may have introduced a minor bug in another area so we’re removing it until we can identify the issue there.
UPDATE: The drag & drop enhancement is back in.
UPDATE: We also added support for transparent logos and image thumbnails.
