Is it possible to sync our gmail calendar with the one in 360?
sync Google calendar with the 360 calendar

You can push calendar items in Solve to a Google Calendar. The “sync” is one-way i.e. you can see the same items in both places, but the items must be created/updated in Solve. Here is a screencast that shows you the steps to follow for this option http://screencast.com/t/2Uz3CTwAl for this option. It is not currently possible to read Google Calendar into Solve360. Does this help? |

Thank you for your answer, but it doesn’t really help. I would like it the other way round, as the Google calendar is what we use for our company. I’ll post it to the requested features, than? |

If you want to see the Google events in the Solve calendar what feature / process is tied to Google and requiring the ongoing sync? i.e. What is preventing you from just using the Solve calendar? |

In Google Calendar I combine my schedule with my other business schedule, my private schedules (husband, children, my band) and my business partner’s schedule. It would be ever so nice if everything I put in my business Google Calendar is pushed to 360. |

Got it. Thanks for the tip. |

This topic was raise a while back. My understanding was that the Solve360 calendar is an activity reporting tool rather than a calendar like Google Cal, or calendar in the Solve360 email. I personally would rather it develops as an activity reporting tool than a calendar substitute as there are big players out there doing Calendars already. However, I would really like to view my google cal within Solve360 What would be really cool is if an icon on the desktop existed which linked to google calendar specified by the user and that allowed the window to pop up in the space. Then I could see both things calendars at once. |

You’ve captured the points accurately. Essentially most of the requirements from Clients are to “hub out” data from Solve to other systems. Opening the Google Calendar withing the Solve Workspace is entirely possible. We’ll keep this in mind as we work toward more integration with Google’s services (e.g. CalDav etc). |

I think this will be very strong - the main issue is the grandfather clause, if you’ve been using Gcal extensively, it’s hard to get away from it, especially because it is so omnipresent and easy to access. we use google apps, and so adding events to my gcal is really easy when i’m inside gmail. two way sync with solve and gcal makes the whole process incredibly fluid. and, i’m sure for your devs, two way instant-sync is super easy to whip up, right? ;) |

bumping this from the dead: |

How long did you wait? Google re-fetches the calendar subscription on its own schedule (you cannot change it). Our experience is Google checks for changes every 30 - 45 minutes. |

i guess instant and 2 minutes probably wasn’t long enough… :p |

You guys have really created a fantastic product and we are really looking forward to using it. Great to see some Cdn ingenuity in the world of Web2.0. I created an calendar event in S360, however when i view it in my Google Calendar only the “What” and “When” are displayed. It is not pulling any of the other info from S360 such as the “Where”, “Details” or “Attendees”? Would be good if it also pulled the title/name of the ProjectBlog, or company? Also, our company operates in 3 different timezones: NY, London, Paris (me). How do we get the calendars to adjust for the time difference either when creating a calendar event in the S360 calendar or project blog and getting it to show correctly in our personal G-cal. In the S360 linked calendar in G-cal it won’t allow me to change the time zone Thanks!!! |
|
|
Thanks for the kind words. Our next update (due quite soon) adds 1) the “Where” field, and ii) the name of the linked item to the event title e.g. “{title} for {contact/blog name}“. The details field should already be coming across. Solve uses the time zone offset from your local computer and displays events in your local time. All events are saved in our system using UTC (no offset). The data sent to Google is also reported in UTC. Google will display the events according to your Google Calendar time zone settings. So essentially, if you set the Google time zone, all timezone offsets should be working for you automatically. PS: Actually I see the Where and name of linked item in the title has already been made. |

Re-awakening this thread. I don’t know if this is normal, but I find the S360 to Google Calendar sync is very slow… Typically at least 1-3 hours for my events to show up in Google. Is there any way to speed this up, to force the sync? With that kind of time delay, it really becomes almost unusable. |

You’re one of the lucky ones, Google pulls the iCal data at it’s own frequency, more info ... http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Calendar/thread?tid=7c6b4213a42e6923&hl=en I’d recommend posting to their forum as well to make your feedback known. |

Wow, looks like Google is dropping the ball with their calendar sync processing. Thanks for pointing this out. |

They are too busy with important things, you know, like allowing you to put Gmail ‘back to beta’ and making other stupid lab features, and their Contacts area is terrible <end rant> |
|
|
Yeah, it would at least be reasonable to allow the client to trigger an update manually. When we’re able to push calendar updates directly it will put an end to the delay. Did I really say that ?! |

I am still hoping for a real calendar sync not just a feed, but for now I attempted to work around this issue, but encountered a problem. My workaround: Created Google cal with feed from Solve. Installed 2-way Google sync for Outlook. Google cal and Outlook cal are in sync though my Solve calendar will never be up-to-date with changes I make in Outlook or my phone (which syncs with Outlook) Issue: I noticed “All day” events created in Solve, fed to Google, do not sync to Outlook. This may not be a Norada problem, but thought I would mention. The Properties of All Day events fed to Google seem to be different than the Properties of All Day events created in Google so there is a translation difference. Why am I doing this? I need offline access when on the road and meeting with clients to review schedules on my phone. 3G service is not available in all my service areas and it is not practical to take the time to log into Norada every time I need basic calendar information. For now I am trying to live with it, but my Outlook calendar still remains the go-to-calendar for me until wireless coverage improves and/or a Norada develops a sync/hub option to put data in my phone memory. I’ll buy a new phone if necessary to get it. |

Solve calendar pushed to Google Calendar sync’ed to iPhone Native App calendar = offline access to your calendar. |
|
|
Also the iPhone calendar program can pull in the Solve iCal feed directly… It’s noted at the bottom of http://is.gd/rOoO |
|
Thanks. Did not scroll down enough to see the iPhone info. Does this also work with Android native calendar programs? Apple’s HTC suit, their issue with Adobe, content control, etc. has made me sour on Apple. I tested an Android OS phone on the Solve/iphone link and it seemed to work fine. |
