Floydie, thanks for the feedback. What I am really trying to get away from is all the tags - we have over 30 so far and are just getting set up and have not even input a project. I don’t know what I am going to do when we get to 300.
In any CRM or database that I have seen the custom fields are set up by type - date, currency, text, check box, select, etc. also the ability to add a new selection on the fly. We sort contacts and companies by location and a number of custom fields in order to define a target market group. It is very difficult with tags to say “show me a list of all accountants in the 713 area code with over $1M in sales that specialize in energy”. When we start tracking this example project and their status via tags and we get to projects 2, 3, 4 we are going to have a million tags. It would be much easier just to have robust custom fields on the same 5-10 criterion that we use all the time.
