Webmail Beta Testers Needed

Email is critical to managing client relationships and our unique Linked-email feature http://is.gd/oB9k is a simple and effective way centralize client email correspondence ensuring everyone on the team has the same information about a client and project.

But we’re doing more ... we’re in the process of implementing a new Add-on into the Solve360 Workspace called “Webmail”.  Webmail is a email client that connects to a email server just like Outlook or Mac Mail but is pre-integrated with the Solve CRM/PM system and requires no software on the local computer.  Initially our Webmail client will connect to Google Gmail / App accounts and our own business-class email service.

If you’d like to help beta test this exciting new feature please check-in with support@norada.com and we’ll add you to the beta list.

I just tried the new web interface.  As far as a basic email client goes, it works well and has all the necessary features (at least, that I need).

The quick contact creation and lookup is very nice.

One thing I’m very confused about though is that (unless I’m missing something) I still have to BCC my outgoing emails and forward my incoming emails to the project dropbox.  Why not have a “connect to project” link and/or treat the inbox like the dropbox and auto-associate all new messages with existing contacts/projects?

Once we are happy with the operation of the basic Webmail features we will be introducing the dropbox as a additional system folder.  With the dropboxes listed as folders you will simple save the messages directly to the dropbox without Bcc or forwarding.  In our view this is the primary purpose of Webmail - a seamless process to manage client interactions within a team environment.

We just recently started beta testing our Webmail feature.  If you email us your contact info we’ll send you the beta notes.

Great, thank you.  It sounds very promising!

I just saw that some labels from gmail are in the webmail interface as well - very, very good! Is there a limit to how many labels that webmail will pull? I seem to be missing quite a few.

Thanks and keep up the great work!

There is no limit to the number of labels we support on this side.  If you think some labels should be there and are not just reach out to our support team and they’ll be happy to review the case.

Adding contacts in the “From” section is fantastic.

Now, since this is imap, I’d really love to have the ability to add contacts in the “To” section under my sent mail. This way if I send emails from my Symbian phone, I can still quickly add that contact into solve at the end of the day when I log in and check my “Sent” folder.

Also, just looking through it, Solve doesn’t auto bcc my dropbox when I compose a message, this would be really really great.

From what I understand, they will be adding an import feature to directly attach the email to a contact/project, so BCC’s will be unnecessary from the web client.

ah ok, I think that makes sense, so as soon as you set your imap controls to Solve’s webmail, it’s going to sync?

BCC is one thing, but I’m thinking more about when you’re sending emails on the fly and needing to add them as contacts later.

@sloughwi Yes you are correct…

You will be able to do the same with any message - simply drag and drop it into the dropbox and it will automatically share and link to the correct contact(s), company(s) and project blog(s).

We’ve noticed the BCC is no longer populating automatically when we click an email address from a contact page.  Reading the above thread I’m wondering if this is a intentional thing?  If so, this creates an extra step, now you have to send the email, locate it in the sent box and drag it over to the correct dropbox.  It would seem to me that if you initiate an email from the contact page or anywhere else for that matter it would auto populate the bcc as it used to.  By the way, the dropboxes are a hit for received mail!

Actually, instead of moving the sent email you should save it directly in the dropbox folder (no Bcc or copy required).  The setting is located in the top right corner of the compose window.  The system will remember where you saved the last message and will use the same folder for the next message i.e. generally you only need to set it once.

To summarize this is what happens when you click on an contact’s email address:

If Webmail is not enabled clicking on an email address will use a mailto: link causing your default email program to compose a new message.  The To field will be populated with the contact’s email address and if the contact is shared the Bcc field will be populated with the dropbox’s email address.

If Webmail is enabled clicking on an email address will open Solve’s compose window with the To field populated with the contact’s emails address.  The Bcc field will not be used, instead you will choose the dropbox as the folder to save the outgoing message to i.e. with the dropbox integrated you no longer need to Bcc the outgoing message.

Just been playing with this feature over the weekend.

Connected to my gmail account that I use as a dump for all my other email accounts.

Connects, grabs mail and so forth all ok

However, I see a LOT of blank message lines in the inbox with date of jan 1 1970 00:00

These entries are many and mixed seemingly at random with other real messages in the inbox.

Also, I noticed that sometimes a message will be in gmail when looked at via a browser BUT even after doing a refresh does not appear at the top of the inbox listing.

Anyone know, is this me doing something daft or a known problem or what ?

There’s nothing that we currently know of that would cause this.  It sounds like Gmail is sending some unexpected or malformed data and those appeared as stub messages.  If you contact our support team with your account details they’d be happy to take a look at it for you.
