My personal wishlist for Solve360

First of all i’d like to say that i’m loving Solve360. I have tried dozen other solutions an this one is the best by far (although a little expensive for my 3rd world small office budget). It’s way faster than even the local run software and this “every information right in your face in one place only” approach is perfect. The more common approach of tabs for each information type is counterproductive. I’ve spent days forgetting to go to the “tasks” tab in other tools i’ve tried. That being said, it is a little simplistic functionality-wise. It’s not a bad thing per-se, but i miss some stuff. Here is my short personal wish-list for Solve360. I know you don’t like to give deadlines for implementing new functions, but I would love to know witch ones of these are on your own list (if any).
Here it goes:

1- Create tasks and events that are independent from projects (this, along with number 2 would eliminate the AWFUL whiteboard hanging on the wall)

2- A Dashboard or a “Start Page” that include this general tasks assigned to users or groups (each one would see their own). It would be nice to put every computer on the office to start the browser on a solve page where they would find tasks end events assigned to them by me (the"boss”) even if they have no relation to specific projects (see item 1)

3- Real sync between tasks and events with google system (no ical publishing, but real two-way syncing). Also, right now, tasks with no due date are showing as full day events on google calendar, with creates a total mess.
4- Clicking on a photo in a gallery could show the photo instead of downloading it (Lightbox style) with a download link beneath for the high-res ones. Sure it would mean resize the bigger ones in the server for showing on the browser screen.

5- PDF viewer (gmail style). A get a lot of PDF attachments in my projects. It’s a little annoying having to download them to see. Not a main issue though.

6- Hiding past projects (already asked an answered in another tread)

7- Better mail integration with gmail. (I believe it’s on the works, right?) I use Google Apps on my domain, so this would be a life changer. I think the current email solution is weak.

8- Being able to assign full task lists to someone, instead of only individual tasks.

9- This would be nice: Chat windows when two or more people have the same project blog opened. Just like it happens on Google Docs. I have just though of that, not something i missed while using, but wouldn’t it be great???

PS: I’m obviously not a native english speaker, so forgive me for any mistake or weird sentences. I hope I have managed to make myself clear.

Thanks,
Daniel Madsen

Thanks for your great feedback.  We love these kinds of comments!

You can create independent Events/Meetings in the calendar now (both private and shared).  Double-click on the calendar screen wherever you want the event and don’t enter a value in the Activity-for field (Activity Dashboard, Show calendar for…)  The event will not appear in any project or contact page.

Essentially the Activity Dashboard, Show next actions assigned to… is your “start” page where you have a list of everything that needs to get done (and can be filtered by user).

We started our beta test of Gmail integration yesterday.  If you’d like access check out http://norada.com/forums/viewthread/366/

We’ve noted all of the other suggestions.  Thanks again!

You guys are really fast!
Thanks for the quick response. The Activity window can work as a dashboard (i didn’t know about the possibility of creating project-independent tasks and events - another score for you guys) But a real dashboard would be nice if it was somewhat “widget” based. I could put a comment, a picture or any kind of activity on that with no project attached. The activity view is a bit limited for that. Could even be just a “project” blog outside the project blog window(may be witha two-column view)!

We just create a blog for those kind of misc task lists. One blog, a task list for each person. They aren’t associate with a project really and it’s nice to have them all in one place.

I didn’t know about the Calendar functionality. Off to play!

This might be a bit redundant, but I’ll post my top 3 wish list in order of priority:

1) project/task templates (the most necessary feature for my office, by far)

2) push sync for calendar/contacts and eventually tasks (Google integration might be just as good since it has push sync now; also see Funambol.)

3) API to create other custom functionality (like document management)

One alternative to #3 might be simple commands via a parsed email.  One CRM that does this is http://heap.wbpsystems.com/create.php  Some example uses: simple “mailto” web forms to capture new leads, quick email to self to set a new appointment.

Templates are on my wish list also. I just didn’t mention them because there is a lot of discussion about it already.

An administrative post just to refer to related threads regarding the upcoming External API and template feature.

The new template feature was released earlier today.

Definitely second the “Lightbox” idea for photos.  Downloading back on the computer defeats the purpose of putting it up on 360 for me.

Tip: With a product like Picasa installed when you click on an image it shows in the Picasa viewer / lightbox automatically i.e when the web browser detects an incoming image it simply shows it.

picasa still somewhat downloads it.  Lightbox i think would be ideal for most people

i second some sort of improvement to the image thumbnails / viewing issue.

You should be able to see photos at a relatively large size and comment directly on them (not the photo list) - this is crucial for discussing a series of mock-ups for example.
