Just a quick note about my experiences initating Solve 360 in South Africa during April/May. Solve360 performed very fast even on the slow machines which was great, and uploads were no slower than in NAmerica.

The problem that I had was with Google calendar and Google docs which for some reason was highly problematic for several weeks. I am not sure if this is still a problem, but it caused me to have egg on my face when trying to convince stakeholders of using Web 2.0 over email communication.

Do you think Google are overloading their systems?

Thanks for sharing this. That’s great to hear.

Solve360 is a unique application designed in such a way that very little data is transmitted across the Internet.  Solve’ is responsive even on slow network connections.  The “trick” is to keeping it fast is to simply use a modern web browser designed to run web applications i.e. Firefox, Safari, Chrome - anything other than IE7 or IE8.

An important difference between consumer-focused web services and business-centric services is how demand is predicted / managed and resources allocated.  Perhaps Google is dealing with some of that now.
