Today we added a highly anticipated feature that lets you record time against tasks then reports on them to help with performance / resource management, client invoicing, charge-backs, etc.
Now when you hover your mouse over a task you will see a clock icon. Clicking on it will open the new “time record” form where you add the particulars about the time spent on the task. Each task can have multiple time records making it easy to track time across multiple days and people. Tasks that have time records will show the total time on the right side of the task’s title so it’s easy to monitor a task’s time at-a-glance.
To view the detail of the current time records open the task’s form (click the edit icon). From the task’s form you can view and delete its related time records.
A snazzy new report has also been added to the Workspace > Activities Dashboard under “Show time tracking”. This report lists the time records by person or by project blog and filters time records by their billable status to help with your regular invoicing / reporting procedures.

Steve-
Any chance that you guys may be enhancing this feature with one of the following in the foreseeable future:
1) Integrating a timer that would allow us to keep track of the time spent on each task without having to enter it manually
or
2) Having a way to integrate an existing 3rd party timer timer to work with Solve360 through the API
The second option is how we were able to do time tracking through Cashboard since it has no built-in mechanism for keeping track of time, either.

Hi John,
We’ve already extended our new API to support editing time tracking records and it’s extremely easy to interface with. With that in place I’d prefer for clients / other developers to provide a range of utilities. Did you write your own timer?

would really like to receive an update if somebody develops a timer that integrates with the time records

Time tracking support has now been added to Call logs and Events.

Really liking this Time Tracking feature. It is easy to use and a breeze to total up billable hours thereafter. Not to mention great for tracking where work is done on major projects which makes applying for things like Tax Credits much easier as well.
It would be nice if we could get a mouse over popup with the text in the Item field as you can only see a little bit of it and that makes it confusing as to what it actually is at times.
Great job though.

When you review the time to be billed in the activity window - it shows most of the information I need - however some critical element is missing, the customer it’s attached to. I typically do invoicing at the end of the week so would be great if the customer name and project name were included in this report (which I typically export out and manage from there).
THanks

integration with Freshbooks is coming so that will make the time tracking all the more powerful!

Thanks for the reply - but I only last night made a decision to not use freshbook and in fact not use the time tracking in solve360 either. Freshbooks works out way too expensive for what I need and have gone with billings. I really just want invoicing, don’t need all the bells/whistles freshbooks offers. Freshbooks was going to cost me $246 for the next 12 months as compared to $57 for billings. I guess I’ll look at the solve360 API to get the data i need as required. Thanks.

We bill/track time under Contacts, and we too would like to see a separate field for a project name when we add a time record. We get around it now by always starting a task list title, a logged call and a meeting title (What) etc. with the Project Name. The item field in Time Tracking always starts then with the project name. It’s not ideal but it helps us filter and sort the list after we export it.
Maybe somebody reading this knows of a better way to do it? :-)

Generally it’s designed so that the time-records roll up to the contact/blog they are placed on i.e. your client/project. These are reported in the show time records for report.
You may have noticed we recently added the ability to add custom fields to activities. Those custom fields have now made their way into the various views, forms, reports and exports e.g. Show opportunities managed by. It seems that time-records would also benefit from this level of customization. In this case you could add your own field e.g. Bill to etc.

Our accounts department would be very happy to see a “Bill to” field in our time tracking reports :-)

Currently if you add your time it shows up green whether it’s billable or non-billable. Are there any plans (or is it currently possible) to differentiate billable vs. non-billable with the color? It would be great to see them on the blog and know right away which is billable time and which is not.

That’s an interesting suggestion. I’ll pass it along to the team for review, thanks!

I agree. For me this would be a nice feature, especially when a project is published and being viewed by the client…at the moment they can’t tell what is billable/non-billable (unless I run off a time report).
In addition, it would be great if the time report could ‘group’ billable/non-billable with separate totals.
