New Feature: Blackberry Web Application

Today we’re wading into the Blackberry Web application space.  Wading, you say?  Why not jump in with both-feet, splash and shout, hoist the flag, brag to our friends etc…?  Generally the Blackberry is still more closely related a phone than a computer and while the features we’re releasing are very useful, we’d like to manage your expectations in these early days.  Unlike the iPhone, Blackberry has countless device versions, a legacy of different operating systems and (outside of email) its user interface is not nearly as intuitive or simple as it should be.  That said, we recognize the Blackberry is the current business standard so lets start pushing at the envelope.

Psst: Apparently RIM, developers of the Blackberry, know they need to dramatically improve their software as just last week they acquired a company to help them introduce the same underlying technology the iPhone uses.

Accessing the Blackberry Web Application

If you have a Blackberry running OS version 4.7.1 or newer:

1) Start the Internet browser on the device and open http://norada.com

2) You may see a page displaying instructions to enable JavaScript, then proceed to a login page to enter your email address and password.

Once logged in you will have access to the following features:

- Calendar and Next Actions (what’s coming up, add and edit events & tasks)
- Contacts (search, look up field information, click to call or send an email, add and edit)
- Blogs & Companies, look up basic field information

This announcement introduces our Blackberry Web application and is not related to synchronization with existing Blackberry applications or a specific native Blackberry application.  As a related point if you are using our Business-Class E-mail service we do provide e-mail synchronization though our email service’s IMAP interface.

Well I did’nt make the beta since I had a BB Curve which was not supported.

So I spent the money and a two year contract extension on Verizon and got a BB Tour with supported OS

It was definitely worth the wait and upgrade.

Bravo!  Now I can access the info anywhere!

Just got a new Bold 9000, it is running os 4.6.xx

So far as I can tell this is in fact the latest OS for the bold.

Is there any reason why that should not be enough to access 360 over the Bold ?

If there is no reason not to try would it be possible to change the checks for version number as at the moment I get a message saying my OS is not supported when attempting to access the site over the Bold browser.

Thanks

During testing we reveled that while the 4.6 browser had the required features it was not reliable (stable).
