Calendar Sync

It seems to me that the current calendar feature is “access your Solve Calender from elsewhere”. Is that accurate? If so, you allude in another post to working on something that is true “sync”. Is the road map to have full sync/integration to external calendars?

Why I care: I sync my mobile device with Exchange Server (Google Apps does this as well). So I don’t want to “see my Solve 360 calendar” because I’ll be logged in to Solve when I need to see that. What I want is for Solve 360 to sync with my main calendar, the one that puts appointments and events onto my mobile device.

Key requirement: I don’t want to have to look at two calendars. Ever. I want to see all of my items in one place (on my device). Being able to access another calendar IS useful in many mobile devices (some platforms DO let you view multiple calendars), but not on those driven by Exchange. I really want it merged with my Exchange calendar in real time. I am curious what you are planning.

As an additional thought, is there a plan to also sync up tasks? Exchange is rather obvious, but Google Tasks is still pretty new. I’m wondering if there is a way to have the activities show up in a task list and the events in my calendar. I hope this makes sense.

Yes the current functionality allows you to pull your Solve calendar into any product or service that supports calendar feeds.  Tasks are currently included in the feed.  You’re correct Google is not quite there yet with tasks but other products such as Mozilla Sunbird and Outlook show them now.  Calendar subscription feeds are real-only.

We haven’t made a announcement related to this area yet but there is a lot of work underway.  Your comments are timely and appreciated.

Not only do we want to see everything in one calendar, we want to be able to update all sources from one calendar <g>.

On this topic, I have just set up my google calendar sync.  However, I realized the sync is only one-way….is this correct?  Solve360 can feed google cal, but changes to google cal cannot feed Solve360..?  If this is the case, it is not a true sync.  Please clarify.  Thanks.

iCal is a feed - one way, it is not a two-way sync (unlike the Google contact sync which is).

I hope Solve360 can find a way to sync calendars like contacts.  I understand mixing the online world with the desktop world creates problems.  However, I do business in rural areas where (1) 3G internet speed are not available and make online work frustrating, and (2) in some areas wireless access is not even possible.

I need offline access to calendars and contacts and the ability to make offline changes and know that they are eventually synced with Solve360, otherwise Solve’s calendar cannot be used for business or personal appointments and will remain a “project” calendar only for me.  I don’t think I am the only one, but when I am on the road and need to review schedules and make appointments quickly I do not want to have to log into my account with the phone.  In some cases, it may be impossible.

Hi,

Has anything changed in this subject?
Am I right to think that no full ‘sync’ is as yet available?

I normally use Exchange calendar - I can access it on my computer as well as on two phones (Nokia and iPhone).
My Exchange calendar is also shared with my work colleagues. I can make changes to it on the go as can my coworkers.
I cannot have two separate calendars for as long as they are not syncing.

Is there any known workaround to have the two (Exchange and Solve) calendars synced?
Does anyone know any way to achieve this? Maybe by using some other 3rd party products/calendars in between the two systems?

Regards

Krystian

Yes you are right, a calendar “sync” feature has not been announced.

The option currently is to use Solve’s iCal feed which allows you to see all of the events in Outlook (or any other client/device that supports feeds).  It automatically keeps your Outlook calendar updated but any changes to the events must be done from Solve.

... fast forward to today, the Google to Solve calendar sync has now been made two-way.
