Auto-Alphabetizing choices in the Custom ‘Select Box’ Fields

In the area of custom fields, one of the choices for a new field is a ‘Select Box’ type of field ... here the user can add specific choices to fill the field from a drop down menu.

Is it possible to make these choices auto-alphabetize? When someone adds a choice at a later time it always ends up at the bottom of the list. Or maybe give this list drag & drop functionality.

The dropdown items are shown in the form designer as they are entered in that session.  However when you use reopen the form designer or use the form the items should appear in a sorted order. True for you?

Negative—maybe I am doing something wrong. Tried doing as you suggested ... multiple times over past 24 hours. Including logging out/in, refresh, etc.

The ‘choices’ stay in the order in which they were inputed. As a result, I re-entered everything in alpha order.

Is there a wait time for the server to make the changes?

There is no time delay, in my test I created a new dropdown field, added a set of rows out of order, clicked refresh view on a contact and checked the list which was showing a sorted order.  Perhaps if you see this again just reach back to our team and they can have a look for you.

It is still happening ... take a look at my account and look at the forms designer and go to Contacts and look for the field titled ‘Role’ ... the last two ‘choices’ are out of order and so is the highlighted ‘Consultant’ ... at least in my browser(s).

I logged in/out from 2 different browsers and cleared the cache (just in case) ... check out the pic

This is the result from here.  What browser are you working with?

Please look at the pic which you attached ... ‘Consultant’ is after ‘CTO’ ... which is not alphabetical.  Also, scroll down to the bottom of the list and you will see two more entries ‘Other’ & ‘a test item’ which are not sorted by A-Z.

Using four different browsers ... Safari, Firefox, Camino, and Fluid. All are current builds running Leopard 10.5.8 on a Mac.

I have a thought ... remember when we changed my account name manually? Could this be affecting the forms designer with sorting and visibilty?

If we need to do a hard reset of the account, I am open to it. Please let me know before you do it, so that I can capture a few changes that I made to the account before a hard reset. You will see in an email sent to support this AM, that the final contact/company data import is ready as soon as one specific feature comes online.

Totally excited about making Solve permanent!! Thanks for all your help.

Looks like 360 uses a sort routine that puts CAPS before lowercase.

Hi bdesilva,

Don’t think that is what is happening ... look at the picture above that I posted. The choices ‘Other’ and ‘a test item’ are also in the list (can’t see them in the second pic because the list is not scrolled down far enough) They are not sorted properly either.

Psst, Solve now supports “placed order” for dropdown / select options http://norada.com/forums/viewthread/690/
