We are attaching some offering memoranda to a project - how about carving out a text space so that we can add some description for the uploaded file?

Files allow you to add a (quite a long) caption; just hover over the file you uploaded, click on the Edit icon, enter the description.  Does this do the trick?

Pardon the late response:

D’oh - yes, that does it the trick exceedingly well.

Thanks.

Hello,

When I hover over a file the edit option is there but does not open when clicked.  Also it won’t let me delete any uploaded files.

Thanks.

When you try to delete the file do you see a message in the bottom left corner of the window?  Can you try and press <f5> or relogin and try again?

Yes I am able to delete files.

What I can’t delete is emails that are in the drop box.

How do I delete them?

Here is something new for me. I have successfully uploaded files to various Solve360, and this morning I uploaded 2 more to a particular blog. Then, when I wanted to move the file location on the blog, I couldn’t. I did what I had done in other cases where I moved the location of a file, but no go.

Your thoughts?

Thanks

Bruce

Seems to be working okay from here.  What is preventing you from moving it - an X on drag, an error, ignoring the action?

We also made a code update this morning, so if you haven’t already done so please relogin so you get it.

When I put the cursor over the file to be moved, the little move icon (among others) appears. I put the cursor over the move icon and try to move the file, but it doesn’t move. The green line moves to where I want the file, but it (the file name) doesn’t move. On other occasions it has worked just fine, but not today.

I have another question to ask in parallel with Bruce’s request.

Once a file has been uploaded to a contact or blog, how do I then move that file internally so that I can attach it to another blog or contact?

For example say I’m on the road and I need to email Client-B a file that is attached to Client-A’s profile. In a perfect world I’m hoping to be able to just drag that file into Client-B’s profile or better still access that file from the activities drop down but instead of the “file” option just letting you browse your local drive it will let you browse the online storage folder as well and link to the file.

Thanks,

James

Currently our focus has been on making the transfer of files between computer and application much better than previous web apps e.g.  one-click, upload multiple files at once, real progress updates, etc.  We will inevitably add functionality to manage files online, but it’s not clear yet how far we’ll take this.

The reason is that we would like to see clients use and benefit from online office tools such as Google Docs.  With online documents all you do is copy/paste the URL anywhere you need to refer to the document.  This provides a couple of other important benefits:

1) you have a lot more control over the documents e.g. your clients would never have an out-of-date price list because you would refer them to the online version instead of copies sitting in their email system

2) you can collaborate with other people in real-time to create / edit the documents (very useful and very cool).

Of course we’ll be working in a hybrid model for a while, but as an advocate of web-services it’s easier if you take it the next step and manage your documents online too.

Thanks for the feedback James.
