Task Comments Masked When Task Complete

When I complete a task, all associated comments are masked. There is no way to tell if there are related comments for a completed task other then unchecking the task and looking for comments. Is this correct?

If correct, couldn’t Solve provide a ‘Containing x comments’ blue link to the immediate right of the completed task? Clicking the link reveals the comments.

Yes that is correct.  The idea is the task is complete so lets keep it there for reference but roll up the details (remove the noise from the space and move on).  There could be a lot of information archived in the task along with the comments e.g. description, files, etc.  Indicating there are comments is only part of the story.

You could however also add a comment to the parent tasklist, those are always shown.

Thanks for the quick response. I don’t disagree with the noise part - but - there will come a time when I must unravel a client issue and will need some easy way to re-trace all comments. I’m still a Solve Newbee so I’ll keep journaling my thoughts. Perhaps, over time, I will find a personal method for all of this.

We do the same, e.g. after tasks are complete we review them for release notes.  Here we just uncheck the completed box, review the task, then recheck the box.

I would like to add my thoughts on this as it is quickly rendering task comments useless for us.

I understand removing clutter, etc.

But let’s say I have a task list with 3 tasks underneath. Each task is assigned to a different person but they are all using this task list to achieve a unified goal. With their assigned tasks, each person is able to record time and leave comments on their task that might help another person (or themselves later) as well as the project manager (person who assigns tasks).

A month goes by and the list is complete and each thing is checked off by whomever. But when the next month comes around absolutely no one can see if there were comments left and what they might need to pay attention to currently.

Sorry, I know I’m not probably explaining this well enough from a user standpoint but it would be very helpful to at least have an indication of a comment present. Basecamp achieves this very well if you’re looking for an example.

Thanks!

Greg, you wrote down your thoughts perfectly. Solve360 must provide productivity in the moment and at any future date. Sarbanes Oxley and other governmental statutes require a formalized and standardized audit trail established across all corporate applications. We don’t want to deploy Solve360 (or any CRM) for multiple years - only to find that the product cannot easily serve up critical archived information easily and accurately.

We’ve added a quick way to peek (review) a completed task’s detail.
