Duplicates created in contact sync

I’m sure someone else has asked this, but I could not find it.  My company uses Google to host it’s email so I signed up with Norada to handle the sync for our contacts.  It has been working great except we keep getting duplicate contacts every time it syncs.  I merge them in Norada and Google, but on the next sync, they are duplicated again.  Any ideas?  I appreciate the help.

Hi there,

I am syncing to IPhone and had the same issue.  Could not find the answer on the web so tried many different methods.  Finally found one that works.  BE SURE TO DO STEP #1 -

1. In S360 (We call it Fred)Go to Data/Synchronize Data with Google and REMOVE the connection to Google - YOU MUST DO THIS FIRST

2. In Google Contacts (in the CLOUD), Select All contacts and Delete them.

3. On the Iphone (or similar device), Go to the settings for syncing your Google contacts and turn that function OFF.

On the Iphone/Ipod/Touch, etc. Step 3 will Delete all contacts that were synched from Google Contacts.

You now deleted all (Google) contacts on your device, and have also deleted all Google Contacts (in the Cloud).  Your S360 Contacts should all be intact.

Go Back to S360 - - Data/Sync Data with Google . . . give Permission then Verify the Connection so that you can once again sync with Google Contacts.  Invoke a Manual Sync and wait for wonderful things to happen.

And, yes, I do work in an office full of tech idiots (bless their little hearts), so I am used to giving very detailed instructions.

Good luck.

I’d like to confirm if the duplicates are in Google or Solve or in both?

Recently we noticed that if Google runs into any issue on the first sync, it may trigger duplicates on subsequent syncs.  In the example we saw it was duplicating Groups and the error was triggered by a space in the website field (imported) which Google didn’t like.  We’ll be collecting more facts over the next few days to determine exactly what happens in similar cases and how to prevent any possibility of duplicate groups/records from being generated.

Hi there,

For us, the duplication seems to occur between the Google contacts and the apple device (we are syncing to Iphones, Ipods and IPod Touch).

All is good between S360 and Google Contacts.  Once in awhile the record count will be slightly off, but it seems to correct itself given some time.

We were, however, getting many dupes and also multiple identical groups between Google Contact and the devices.  (15,000 records when we were trying to sync only 500)

The multi-step program (see my post above)cleared out all issues and we are now 100% identical on S360 / Google Contacts / Apple device.

I am synching 3717 contacts using the Google Sync (MS Exchange).

Hope this helps,

Kathleen

I am having the same problem with duplication on the Solve side; used merge function to remove duplicates.  On Google side it does not appear to create duplicates after a sync

We’ve been logging and reviewing all the sync activity recently, looking for conditions where this could or did happen.  We’ve seen cases where Google is, at times, not providing all the information expected.  We’re making a few changes on the Solve end to handle these conditions and add additional logic so support a “sanity check”.  Hopefully we’ll have this one pinned down very soon.

Additional “sanity checks” are now in production.  Please let us know if you see any new duplicates.
