Adding Fields

In the Company section, when I try to add fields I receive the following error message:  “Error creating new field:  You are not permitted to manage fields for specified item type.“

I am logged in as administrator and I can create new fields in the Contacts section without incident.

Also, in a previous post, you had mentioned you were going to create a “Home Address” field in the Contacts section…just a little nudge.

We are making changes to the Company field this morning.  “Company” is a system field so you can’t add it yourself.  In an hour or so you will see Company appear in the Contacts system fields dropdown.  This special field will let you link to existing company records, or automatically create new company records by just adding the text in the field.

Home address was added as a system field to contacts a couple weeks ago.  You should see it in the dropdown.  Let us know if you don’t.

You will need to relogin to see these changes.

Wow!  The changes you made to the “company” field are very helpful.  Nice improvement. Thanks.

Can’t sneak anything past you eh - we just did it a few hours ago!  Company has been added as a standard field you can search on too.

We are still working on a few things behind the curtain though; a few rough edges remain.

Very impressive and it’s not yet Friday, which seems to be the usual day for unveiling enhancements.

It’s a very neat system field in that it relates to companies only AND you can enter text to create a company name. 

We have already test driven this feature and it works without fail.

And oh so nice to have another system field to keep the “related to” company.
