there are two ways to deal with this:

you can log hours on a task via the time tracking

but probably the best way is to take rethink your “task” as a “task list” with several mini-tasks spread out over the course of several days:

example:
  tasklist: Delivery TPS report
    task: meeting to discuss TPS
    task: first draft of TPS report
    task: final draft revisions
    task: send TPS report

Another tip, when a task has a “Due date” specified you can then set another parameter “Time remaining”, this establishes the task “duration” and is best viewed under Workspace > Activites Dashboard > Show timeline for…

Planning each task as a Task list would be quite big and probably almost endless list of tasks :) as there are many tasks within a project.

I was thinking of something like having the opportunity to separate one task that last for example 28h into 3 and a half days. And that it’s nicely visible in the calendar option. So I know that on monday, tuesday, wednesday and half of a thursday john works on “that” and on thursday after 12:00 he can start on “that”.
And on next task that lasts 9h he will be working on the rest od the thursday and friday till 13h. Etc…

Another tip, events can be make to behave similar to a task by choosing the “Keep the event as a next action until someone completes it” option.  They can also span days, repeat, include multiple people etc.
