What’s the difference when you want to add a client to receive notification? Both ask for what levels of access they should have.

thx.

Greetings, I’m not sure I follow exactly what you need re “both”, but I’ll offer a summary of the different options.

Email notifications allow three different settings:

1) send an email when any activity or comment changes on the page
2) send an email when only comments change
3) send an email only when you type a message and click send

RSS notifications are similar to the first option i.e. they send an alert when anything changes on the page.

The Publish feature is unrelated to notifications.  It allows you to provides your client specific levels of access to the project blog page:

1) only view the page
2) only comment on items on the page
3) make changes to the activities just like a normal user can

What’s confusing me is that it seems you can let outsiders be ‘notified’ before the blog is ‘published’ to them. True?

Also,

On notifications, there is the option of “When I send one”

I may be setting up the blog and activities, but no longer participating. Does this mean the outsider won’t get any notifications because I specifically and not sending them? Or do they get one when anyone on the project with a Solve account sends one?

Further more, how do you actually “send” a notification when you’re done so they don’t get 10 emails with minor details in a row?

It’s important to realize that the publish and notification features are used in a wide variety of situations.  For your particular case, consider this scenario:

- Publish the project blog to the guest (they receive an email with access instructions)
- Add a notification for the guest as well, choose “when I send one” and when a major change occurs (or when you’re ready) click notifications enter your message and click send.
- After the project is through the “busy” phase, perhaps add another notification type e.g. “as comments are posted” just so folks can automatically keep in touch when infrequent comments are made etc.

This way the guest does not receive an email message while you prepare the page, only when you want to notify them “it’s time” to come have a look.

Generally you have the control to determine who can get to the page, then when they should receive email messages.

invitations sent by S360 either through notification or the email announcing the link to the published blog have the S360 branding. Shouldn’t it be possible to have our own company branding for these emails sent to our clients?
