Assign to ?

How do I assign either a selection of contacts or companies to a particular sales person?  So far it seems I have to do this one at a time which isn’t going to work.

On another front, I am new to 360 Solve, which I am beginning to like but there doesn’t seem to be any sort of basic reference guide on how to use it. I feel the question above is pretty simple so it is odd to have to go through a forum to get it answered. I suspect I am missing something on the Solve’360 web site which has all the set-up information laid out in a logical form.

Put simply is there a reference guide anywhere?

Thanks Patrick

If you’re using category tags to assign records you can do it by selecting the items in the list and applying / removing the tag.  If you are using the “assigned-to” field there is no way through the application to assign staff to multiple contacts at once (there are ways around this however).

You didn’t missed it, we removed the general training material while we reworked it to include all the features added recently.  We hope to a big chunk of it back online soon.

Many thanks for your answer. You said that there might be ways round the “multiple assign to a sales person problem”. What are they?

Thanks Patrick

I was going to suggest the “workaround” to update fields for multiple items:

1) Check that you have no duplicate contacts (Data > Merge duplicates)

2) List the contacts you want to change a value for and export them to Excel (Data > Export this list
Excel).

3) Remove all of the fields except first and last name, add the field you want to update.

4) Re-import the file and the contacts will be updated with the new field values.

Then I recalled that the import specifically does not accept a value for the Assigned-to field.  Sorry for assuming it would help in this case.

You can now import the “Assigned-to” field http://norada.com/forums/viewthread/911/

Add my vote for being able to do this in the interface. It seems logical if we are to use this field to actually assign records to salesgeeks.

I just tried to do that, seeing how Solve supports importing new Assigned to fields.

Didn’t work.

I tried just first name and last name. No updates.

I tried importing with every field and what it did was create another group of the same contacts (thus they were duplicates). So I deleted the original group and then it looked like it was the same situation, for some reason it dropped the assigned-to info.

But upon closer inspection, the assigned-to info had changed/updated. It just wasn’t showing up in the ‘hide form’ view and does not show up in the search for the new updated value in the assigned to.

I still have to go into the assigned to and (re) select the new value and then it will work. i.e. do it manually.

Can you fix this bug?

To see any data changed by the reimport click Refresh view for any contacts that currently have open tabs, or simply relogin after you imported the data.

I did both. Several times. I’m looking at it right now and its as I describe above.

Also, I exported WITH the company name included option. Apparently that didn’t work as well. I’m now trying to remember which contact goes with which company (out of 163) to manually link them back together.
